Musician, educator, and composer Nate BeuMaher is an active member of San Diego’s local jazz scene and is currently finishing a degree in Jazz Studies at San Diego State University. He performs all genres of music from indie, to jazz, to african, etc. Has a formal education in jazz, classical, and world music and teachers private lessons.
In 2017 he joined George Kezas’ Java Jazz Quartet. Working alongside Alan Worthington, and N. Scott Robinson at Brew Coffee spot every friday night until summer 2019. Later that same year he joined the african highlife band, Mutima. Formed by percussionist Kofi Andoh and guitarist Candread Gadaga. They performed at the City Heights African Heritage Festival, local farmers markets, and various gigs up and down the californian coast. They are currently working on an album of original african tunes alongside reggae covers.
In the summer of 2018 Nate formed his own group, The Sobaka Trio with Sam Pratt and Joshua Jones. They performed weekly around San Diego until Joshua and Sam moved out of town in late 2019. In late 2018 he joined the band Killer Krab, formed by college friend Bryce Montgomery. The band recorded their first album The Crystal Mountain in 2019 but the band’s tour promoting the album was cut short by the 2020 pandemic.
